Current status of GenICam™

The GenICamTM standard committee accepted the GenTL standard which is now part of GenICamTM.

The first official release of the GenICamTM standard (GenApi module) was finished and ratified in 2006. The standard text, schema file and other files related to the standard can be downloaded from the download section.

Later, the GenICamTM committee accepted GenICamTM GenApi maintenance release 1.0.1 and recently a new release vesion 1.1.0. Both these releases are based on the same standard text and GenICamTM XML Schema document, they only improve/extend the GenApi reference implementation.

The committee also ratified the Standard Features Naming Convention (SFNC) document as part of the GenICamTM standard. This document defines a list of standard feature names for GenICamTM compliant cameras - a single list for all camera interface types (GigE VisionTM, Camera Link®, 1394 DCAM or others).

During the technical meeting in Pilsen, the committee finished works on the GenTL GenICamTM module. The long-awaited GenTL standard text was prepared for approval and recently it was finally accepted and became part of the GenICamTM  standard.

More information about the last technical meetings is provided in the meeting minutes (also available in the download section).

Outlook

New GenICamTM version introducing new important features in the GenICamTM XML Schema is expected in the first half of 2009.
