1st European Machine Vision Business Conference - A European Machine Vision Star is born

The European Machine Vision Business Conference, held in Barcelona on Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th of May 2003, truly marked a turning point in the entire Machine Vision industry.
For the first time, about 60 Machine Vision Chief Executives, experts and analysts met to exchange market intelligence, news of innovative technologies developed in Europe, and to establish a new network: The European Machine Vision Association (EMVA).

With the inauguration of the EMVA on 24th of May, 2003, a new star of the entire European machine vision industry was born. It will be a revolutionary networking framework, providing a constant source of exchange, information and inspiration. At present 27 companies and 3 national Machine Vision Associations are members of EMVA. These represent 12 European countries, from Ireland to Hungary and from Finland to Greece. More companies have expressed their interest in becoming a member in the near future. The EMVA aims to be an industry lobby to support the interests and concerns of its members, and to help ensure that world-leading European technology is widely applied in a bigger, united Europe.

During the inaugural assembly, the new members of EMVA elected the Executive Committee, which will lead the association for a three year period. In a further step the 5 members defined the responsibilities in the Committee.

The members of the first Executive Committee are:
• Gabriele Jansen (President), ISRA VISION SYSTEMS AG, Germany
• Mats Gökstorp (Vice-President), IVP Integrated Vision Products AB, Sweden
• Toni Ventura-Traveset (Treasurer), DATAPIXEL, Spain
• Don Braggins, UK Industrial Vision Association, United Kingdom
• Martin Wäny, Photonfocus AG, Switzerland
The composition of the Executive Committee clearly reflects the European scope of EMVA.
